The Center for Infectious Diseases (including Fever and Gastrointestinal Clinics) at Beijing Ditan Hospital is a National Key Clinical Specialty, a flagship department for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine under the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the leading unit of Beijing's first clinical research group for infectious diseases. It operates specialized clinics including Infectious Diseases Clinic, Hepatology Clinic, VIP Clinic, Fever Clinic, Gastrointestinal Clinic, and Integrated Chinese-Western Medicine Infectious Disease Clinic.

Renowned for its expertise in managing emerging infectious diseases and diverse infections, the Department possesses extensive diagnostic and therapeutic experience in complex conditions such as atypical infectious diseases, emerging/re-emerging infections, imported infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, central nervous system infections, and challenging cases like fever of unknown origin (FUO), diarrhea of unknown origin, jaundice of unknown origin, and rash of unknown origin. It has established a robust emergency response system, enabling excellent performance in responding to public health crisis and providing medical support for major domestic and international events. Also, the Department has repeatedly contributed to national clinical management and guideline development for emerging infectious disease outbreaks, playing a pivotal role in China’s response to critical public health emergencies.

As a master and doctoral training site, the Department oversees infectious disease education and internships for Peking University Health Science Center, Capital Medical University, and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. In recent years, it has undertaken over 10 key research projects, including National Major Science and Technology Projects, National Key R&D Programs, and the Beijing Sailing Program, publishing over 100 high-impact academic papers with a record-high single-article SCI impact factor of 176. Its recognitions include 1 National First-Class and 1 Second-Class Scientific Achievement Awards, along with 7 provincial or ministerial first, second, and third-class awards.
